Both are informed by the position that art making is less a form of
self-expression than a process of problem-solving, whereby a
problem is generated by a given site (whether this be a physical,
institutional, or discursive) and its solution arrived at through
dialogue with an interlocutor.
Rhode Island, where he teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design. He has exhibited his work at venues including the
Municipal Art Society, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Socrates Sculpture Park, and the Queens Museum of Art,
all in New York; the Soap Factory and Franconia Sculpture Park in Minneapolis; and internationally at the Kunsthalle
Zurich, Galerie 5eme Etage in Paris, and Tou Scene in Norway. In addition to his mostly collaborative studio practice,
his curatorial projects include Curator’s Choice at the Scope Art Fair, and DOUBLE at the d.u.m.b.o. arts center, both in
New York. He has served as board or committee member at apexart, Asian American Art Center, Cuchifritos, Art in
General, and the Center for Book Arts. He has written for various catalogues, as well as the magazines Modern
Painters, to which he has contributed over 20 reviews, and PAJ: A Journal of Performing Arts, published by MIT Press. He
received his B.F.A. and B.S. from Cornell University and his M.Phil from Columbia University.
