McDermott derives his material from film or television or from his own cine-film. The process is
a layered technique that enthusiastically embraces technological visual media. By progressing
through various generations of production, McDermott arrives at his rich representations
typified by heightened colour and tone. His works are defined by a personal style enlivened by
